The top 10 crypto wheel holds the ten largest cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation and picks one at random. Ten segments are easier to read on a phone than twenty, and the ranking changes less often, so the list stays true for longer.
Why ten and not twenty
Ten segments is a wheel you can actually read. At twenty the tickers shrink and the slices get thin; at ten each one is a thirty-six degree wedge with room for its label, which matters more on a phone than it sounds like it should.
The list is the ten largest cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation on the date printed under the wheel, with stablecoins and wrapped tokens removed for the same reason they are removed everywhere here. Order in the lower half of a top-twenty list moves around constantly; the leading ten moves slowly. That is the second argument for the shorter wheel — it stays accurate for longer between hand updates.
The other thing a shorter wheel changes is the odds. Ten segments means each coin comes up about one time in ten rather than one in twenty, so a result here feels less like a lottery and more like a decision being made. Whether that is an improvement depends entirely on what you wanted the wheel for.

How often is the top 10 updated?
By hand, and the date it was last checked is printed under the wheel. Rather than fetch a live ranking on every page load, this site states the day its list was true and leaves you to judge whether that is recent enough.
Is this the same as the main crypto wheel?
It is the same wheel with half the coins. The main wheel carries twenty; this one carries the leading ten. Both draw evenly, so any given coin comes up about twice as often here as it does there.
